WHAT
IS THE DREAMBUILDER CELEBRATION?
The Dreambuilder Celebration creates opportunity,
educates the public and initiates positive
social change.
| |
Opportunity
For Aspiring Writers, Actors, Directors
and Producers, especially those
of minority backgrounds, working on
a Dreambuilder movie is a once-in-a-lifetime
chance to enter the television industry
and build a network of contacts and
mentors. |
| |
Education
Dreambuilder movies are family friendly
and encourage viewers to learn about
other cultures and perspectives.
They also provide viewers and educators
with an ideal forum to discuss relevant,
important issues. |
| |
Inclusion
The Celebration unites diverse individuals
to create understanding and build
something of value. We encourage
all people to get involved in the program.
|
| |
Positive
Social Change
With understanding comes acceptance.
Friendships formed open doors to
the industry, and also open eyes,
minds and hearts to celebrate the
uniqueness of each individual. |
WHAT DOES THE DREAMBUILDER CELEBRATION
INCLUDE?
The Dreambuilder Celebration started as an
annual regional competition for minority
writers. Judges selected a winning script
which we produced into a one hour entertainment
special, casting local acting hopefuls
and hiring those with dreams of a behind-the-camera
career.
Since then we have added more parts to the
program, including writing and industry
seminars for students and the general
public and a comprehensive viewers' and
teachers' package with recommended pre-
and post-viewing activities, lesson plans
and supporting materials.
Dreams are universal. We believe that
everyone should have an opportunity
for their voice and opinion to be heard.
HAS THE PROGRAM BEEN SUCCESSFUL?
Yes. The Dreambuilder Celebration has
been applauded by educators, community leaders,
the President of the NAACP, the Family Friendly
Programming Forum, critics and viewers.
"We
believe this program fits well with
the NAACP's efforts to create greater
opportunities for minorities in the
entertainment industry. While many organizations
claim to create opportunity in television
entertainment production, The Dreambuilder
Celebration delivers."
