Movie:
"Skin Complex"
Skin Complex explores one man's pursuit
of success. He has worked hard. He has studied
long. He has achieved success that most
would envy. He wants more from life, but
believes there are obstacles blocking his
path. Now he is considering a dramatic step
that might give him the advantage to help
him achieve his dreams
. Or will it
cause him to lose everything?
Skin
Complex asks an intriguing question
"Have
all African Americans wondered what it's
like to be white or have all African Americans
ever wished they were white? "
Dr.
Christopher Harrison is a strong, ambitious,
intelligent man who believes success should
be based on hard work, without regard to
skin color. He is proud that he has achieved
success on his own - Ivy League Ph.D., distinguished
educator, active in the community. He is
ashamed of those who use their skin color
as an excuse or seek to gain unfair advantage
based on their race. But Dr. Harrison has
always wondered what it would be like to
live as a white man. He believes his potential
would be unlimited.
Then
he meets Maurice - a white man who had always
wanted to live as a black man. Chris, born
black, works to convince Maurice of the
benefits of being white - while Maurice,
born white, tries to convince Chris of the
benefits of being black.
In
their short time together, Chris and Maurice
find themselves in life-altering situations
in which they are forced to question their
beliefs and perceptions.

Harris
started writing with the hope of bringing
more diverse roles to television and the
theatre. "I want to provide a vehicle
for the diverse voices of our young people
to be heard. It's important for those starting
out to identify their gift, to develop it
and gain the exposure they need. As a mentor,
I'm able to keep my eye on the future."
Although
he has several unpublished screenplays to
his credit, "Skin Complex", which
Harris wrote specifically for the Dreambuilder
Celebration Scribe Contest, will be his
first produced script. In appreciation for
the support given him by his family, Harris
includes them in the script, naming many
of the characters after family and friends.
Craig plays the role of the Interviewer
in Skin Complex.
