"SKIN
COMPLEX" A WINNER TIMES FIVE
April
28, 2003: "Skin Complex", the
2003 Procter & Gamble Dreambuilder Celebration
movie, took home five Emmys from the Ohio
Valley chapter of the National Television
Academy.
"Skin
Complex" writer Craig J. Harris was
on hand to see his first produced work receive
Emmys for:
- Outstanding
Informational Program (Jim Friedman, Producer)
- Outstanding
Achievement - Directing (Brad Pruitt and
Jim Friedman, Directors)
- Outstanding
Achievement - Photography (Mark Ovington,
Director of Photography)
- Outstanding
Achievement - Lighting (Mark Ovington,
Director of Photography)
- Outstanding
Achievement - Audio (Mike Duffey and Scott
Stolz)
The
Dreambuilder's parent company, Blind Squirrels
Production Group, was also a winner for
their groundbreaking discussion program,
"Breaking Polite Silence".
The
wins by "Skin Complex" were bittersweet,
as program creator Jim Friedman announced
an uncertain future for the Dreambuilder
project, currently seeking funding to continue
and expand. In its six year history, the
eight Dreambuilder movies have:
- Received
more than 50 regional, national and international
awards (including 30 regional Emmys and
1 national Emmy nomination).
- Provided
opportunity and experience to more than
44,578 writers, actors and production
hopefuls through Dreambuilder seminars,
events and productions.
- Distributed
educational materials to more than 700,000
educators and students
- Logged
almost 1,000,000 hits on our website,
www.dreambuildercelebration.org in its
first year
The
Dreambuilder Celebration was created in
1997 to encourage inclusion and understanding
of cultural diversity by sharing history,
ideas and entertainment. By providing opportunities
in the fields of broadcasting, journalism
and the arts, the Dreambuilder Celebration
honors the community and supports broadcast
hopefuls from all ethnic backgrounds in
pursuing their dreams.
