CINCINNATI FILMMAKER SETS HISTORIC RECORD

Cincinnati, OH; December 2, 2002: Cincinnati filmmaker Jim Friedman set a historical record Saturday night in Chicago by winning his 50th Regional Emmy Award. He is believed to be the first in the history of broadcasting to reach that mark. In his 24-year career, Friedman has won awards as an independent filmmaker and while representing 8 television stations in 6 states for outstanding work in 12 different categories.

Friedman won his 50th Emmy for directing his seventh Dreambuilder movie, "In the Net". The Procter & Gamble Dreambuilder project enables first-timers and those with dreams of a career in acting and production, to gain experience and build networks in the industry.

In total, the first seven Dreambuilder Celebration movies have amassed 25 Emmys, 10 of them awarded to first timers. "In the Net" continued that tradition, with co-director Brad Pruitt taking home his first Emmy Award.

"That's what I hoped The Dreambuilder Celebration would accomplish," remarked Friedman. "We have a lot of motivated, talented, creative, quality actors and production personnel here. We have diverse voices seeking to be heard. But it's difficult living in the Midwest and trying to get a foothold in an industry traditionally associated with New York and California."

Friedman and Pruitt's latest Dreambuilder Celebration movie, "Skin Complex" completed filming in Cincinnati in early October. Twenty-two stations in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin will premiere "Skin Complex" early in 2003.

The Dreambuilder Celebration encourages inclusion and unity by sharing history, ideas and entertainment. Opportunities for writers, actors, production personnel, internships and mentorships, educational seminars and theatrical performances are included in the Dreambuilder program. By providing opportunities in the fields of broadcasting, journalism and the arts, the Dreambuilder Celebration honors the community and supports broadcast hopefuls from all ethnic backgrounds in pursuing their dreams.
